This is for a systems engineering (SE) position seeking to use Model-Based System Engineering (MBSE) methodology and system modeling tools to design program requirements, relationships, and manage the execution of the systems engineering process including interfaces, key performance parameters, and operational concepts in the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) Systems Engineering, Integration and Test (SEIT) Capability. This position reports directly to the SEIT Capability MBSE Manager. As a member of this MBSE team, you will be responsible for the Systems design and architecture of Avionics systems Functions using MBSE methodology. Additionally, you will participate in activities to develop and deploy a common enterprise approach to MBSE within Boeing.
Deploy Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodology and system modeling of complex avionics system/system-of-systems architectures and technical solutions for BDS programs
Elicit and capturing stakeholder needs in models
Perform systems design activities using model-based systems engineering, including architecture, interface and use case development.
Develop and extend system models using existing requirements, interface documentation, and related design and systems engineering documents
Provide MBSE/SysML expertise and related support to the entire systems engineering team
Integrate models with modern requirements management, architecture, and systems engineering software
Participate in converting document-based to model-based architectures, refactoring of existing models
Proficient in the use of multiple architecture frameworks, tools, and methodologies
Ability to identify and implement model-based architecture and engineering methods and standards
Demonstrate excellence in use of Systems Modeling Language (SysML) and systems modeling methods, at least one systems modeling tool: (preferred) NoMagic-Magic Draw or IBM Rational Rhapsody; others considered if applicable
Provide reports of team activity status to the BDS SEIT manager.
Key interfaces on this team include the BDS SEIT Capability MBSE Team, other BDS Engineering Capabilities, Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA), and Engineering Test & Technology (ET&T)
This position requires 4+ years of demonstrated experience on SysML methodologies.
This position requires 5 to 8 years of Systems Engineering experience with specific involvement in avionics function system design preferably Landing Gear Systems, Power Systems, Flight Management system.
Experience in the practical application of systems architecting and model-based systems engineering (MBSE) to aircraft systems is preferred
Experience and familiarity with Magic Draw and/or Rational Rhapsody software is preferred.
Experience with MATLAB/Simulink as an Avionics modeling tool is highly desired.
Knowledge and understanding of the structures, behaviors, and constraints associated with a system / system-of-systems environment is preferred
Having good knowledge in system design of multiple aircraft systems, integrated aircraft level functionality, interfaces and protocols (preferably CDN, A429, UDP, RS 232, etc.,) between multiple aircraft systems
Strong Written, verbal communication with engineers, management, and non-engineering support staff
